The Abstract Art of Cat Isadore

Catalina Isadore is an art historian and writer who has battled anxiety and panic disorders for her entire adult life. Wanting to express the reality of dealing with mental illness, she has turned to abstract art. Using colored pencils exclusively, each piece begins life as ancient text (Cypro-Minoan, in this case) and is morphed into geometric abstraction through tortured manipulations reminiscent of OCD, intrusive thoughts, etc. Bright, life-affirming color is then flooded onto the canvas, transforming the tormented into riotous beauty.
